Shin Tanaka is a salaryman who has remarried after a divorce. While he outwardly plays the role of a good father, he actually struggles to get along with his wife’s child from a previous marriage, leading to days filled with pent-up frustration. His current wife, Nanae, is a homemaker who defines herself through her devotion to the men in her life. Shin also has a biological daughter with his ex-wife—a career woman—though he cannot exactly say he looks forward to their scheduled meetings every three months. Unbeknownst to most, a new life is on the way for Shin and Nanae. This news only makes his stepdaughter—with whom he shares no blood ties—more hostile; she lashes out, declaring, “I hate this house.
